Teaching has always been a personal passion, hopefully I will continue to educate and inspire others on their journeys. My latest project is called Wellness Through Dressage. Helping horses and rider maintain radiant health throughout life is the focus of my daily work. In the past, I was driven to succeed in competition, now I have a reached a point where my goal is the long-term well-being of myself, my students and their horses.

  1. Observations I’ve had after riding dressage 3 years. It’s a challenge, but a good one, I’m always learning something new. I like challenging myself, even at age 68, to get really good at something. Dressage checks all the boxes.
The valuable lessons I have learned in the past 3 years in dressage. Mostly , the challenge. My motto is “progress not perfection”. As long as I’m learning and improving, I’m happy. I also leased a beautiful Friesen for about a year when I first was learning dressage. She was perfect for me then. Calm, reliable, not spooky. I decided to buy my own horse, but we were not a good fit. She knew very little dressage. I thought we could learn it together, big mistake. I sold her and found a wonderful Dutch Warmblood who was already trained in dressage. He has built my confidence and helped me improve as a rider. I am also extremely thrilled with my trainer, kamila DuPont. She explains things so that I understand them, if I don’t she explains it a different way until I get it. What I mostly appreciate is her patience with me when I don’t get it. She makes a way for me to understand what she’s conveying. That is invaluable to me. As I’m learning more and more, I find my skill level is increasing exponentially. It’s only been 3 months since I leased Opie, but I see huge strides in my performance. I can actually apply what Kamila tells me! That’s huge. I try to be patient with myself. Some days aren’t so great but most days I am proud of what I’ve accomplished. Such a rewarding endeavor! I hope to keep riding for another 10 years!
