HANOVERIAN STALLION APPROVAL AND AUCTION
What an extraordinary few days I had in Verden, Germany at the 2018 stallion approvals for the 2016 offspring.
It felt so wonderful to walk on the ground where I have so much personal history! In Germany I feel all the threads of my life flowing together. It is amazing to be surrounded by hundreds of knowledgeable horse people. Almost every competition in Europe has jumping and dressage together, but the stallion approval creates a concentration of both. To watch all 90 horses for three days straight takes a lot of stamina! However, there is so much excitement in the air that no one is ever bored.
My passion for breeding goes way back in my life as a professional equestrian. I had the good fortune to compete two Hanoverian stallions at the beginning of my dressage career. Aachat and Neblehorn helped me get onto the International stage back in the 1980s. I went to Celle to buy Nebelhorn for a partnership and became really interested in the Hannoverian Verband. It is a large, serious business, and it is founded on and fueled by the love and enthusiasm the German people have for their horses. That passion is in full display at the annual stallion approvals.
